IV Sedation Dentistry
Intravenous sedation for patients with significant dental anxiety or for longer, more involved procedures.
A deeper level of comfort for the patients who need it most
If the idea of a dental visit makes you genuinely anxious — or if you're facing extractions, dental surgery, or extensive restorative work — IV sedation is one of the most effective comfort options we offer. Intravenous medication is delivered through a small IV line and produces a deeply relaxed state, so you can receive the care you need without the stress.
Who is a candidate for IV sedation?
IV sedation is appropriate for patients with significant dental phobia, a strong gag reflex, or anyone undergoing longer or more complex procedures. Before your appointment, we review your medical history, current medications, and vital signs (blood pressure, oxygen, heart rate) to make sure IV sedation is safe for you.
What to expect during treatment
You'll be monitored continuously throughout your appointment. Most patients describe the experience as feeling pleasantly drowsy and detached — you may remember little or nothing of the procedure afterward. Dr. Aiello and the team work as you would normally, and you stay responsive enough to follow simple instructions.
Afterward
Because the medication takes time to wear off, you'll need a responsible adult to drive you home and stay with you for a few hours. Most patients feel back to themselves by the next day.
