Sedation Dentistry

Oral Sedation

A prescription medication that produces a deeply relaxed state for your appointment.

A relaxed, comfortable visit

Oral sedation involves taking a prescription medication shortly before your appointment. You stay awake and able to respond, but feel deeply relaxed — most patients remember little of the procedure afterward.

Oral sedation is ideal for patients with dental anxiety, longer appointments, or anyone who wants to combine multiple procedures into a single comfortable visit. You'll need someone to drive you to and from the appointment.

Call (708) 345-3440 to discuss whether oral sedation is right for you.

Step by step

What to expect

  1. Step 01

    Health review

Dr. Aiello reviews your medical history and medications to choose the safest option.

  2. Step 02

    Sedation plan

Together you'll decide between oral sedation or nitrous oxide based on the visit and your preference.

  3. Step 03

    Your comfortable visit

You'll be deeply relaxed and monitored throughout — most patients remember very little.

  4. Step 04

    Easy recovery

Nitrous wears off in minutes. Oral sedation requires a ride home; you'll be back to normal the same day.
